Australia: Skilled vacancies for May rose 1% - TDS

Research Team at TDS, notes that the Australia’s skilled vacancies for May rose 1% and vacancies for April were revised up from +0.6% to 0.8%.

“This leaves job vacancies up an impressive 10.5%/yr. In raw terms job vacancies are at the highest levels in four years. By state, WA recorded the largest monthly increase in vacancies, +2.2%, but in annual terms was the only state to see vacancies drop –7%, but NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, NT and ACT all recorded +10% increase in vacancies on the year.

Overall it suggests the economic transition is taking place, but will it drive a gain in wages? Nonetheless the data supports the RBA’s contention for moderate employment growth in the months ahead.”
