US stocks avoid third day of losses but close negative on the week

FXStreet (San Francisco) - Wall Street closed higher on Friday after rallying in the last hour to recover earlier losses and to post gains in the day. However, the major indexes finished the week with negative numbers.

The Dow Jones advanced 44.50 points or 0.27% on Friday to close at 16,491.31; 0.99% negative on the week. The S&P 500 added 7.01 points or 0.37% to finish at 1,877.86; 0.51% down in the week. The Nasdaq Composite won 21.29 points or 0.52% to 4,090.59; 0.16% negative in the week.
